Crucifixion isn't my main thing, but it is one of my oldest fascinations (single-digit childhood, as memory serves), and I do make crux scenes from time to time. In recent months this forum has reinvigorated the sub-genre for me creatively, and I find myself once again piecing together random props in pursuit of makeshift crosses and nails.

This thread will probably be a mishmash of stories and images. I have no concrete plans beyond contributing a varied series of original...

Or Rape Crux in English. I've been threatening to start this thread for some time, but hesitated to use such an irritatingly pretentious, pseudo-intellectual title.

Then I recalled that 10 years ago somebody actually wrote a scholarly paper called "The Crucified Woman: A Paradox of Prurience and Piety."

I'm probably in the minority here in that I prefer the scourging part of the crucifixion to the actual hanging from the cross (something that many noted about my story The Scapegoat - I've reattached it in case anybody wants to see it without having to trawl through a search), but I'm guessing most of us enjoy whipping. So, I was wondering, what are our favourite depictions of flogging either in film, pictures or writing?

Last Saturday another crucifixion took place on the "Island of Crucifixion" in SL. In sunny weather the flogging took place. The executioner was flogged very hard. Only after 49 extreme blows the supervisors stopped the flogger and handed the woman over to the executioner.

At the age of three iron nails the condemned woman was nailed to the cross and the long suffering began. After hours of suffering in a beautiful setting, the end finally came and the condemned woman died screaming loudly...

In the early part of the 21st Barbara was a student at the University of the Virgin Martyrs. She was an excellent student that had a knack for earning much deserved demerits. Finally, she was ‘invited’ to visit with the dean of student disciple. Such an invitation usually meant expulsion from the University. Don’t pretend like you haven’t noticed. And not just in my art either. I mean really, how often do you see a woman on the cross with hair that is matted, a knotted mess, full of split ends, or torn out in chunks? Even the grittiest most brutal depictions of crucifixion she away from anything more extreme than bed head, partly, I imagine, to preserve some of the beauty of the victims.

It seems quintessentially feminine that, even when totally undressed and helpless to the ravages of torture...
